The LA Animal Shelter is declaring June as Animal Awareness Month . On June 1st ,an Open House at the shelter on Smith Road in Amherst will he held from 2-4 pm to celebrate twenty-six years of dedicated ,caring service to hundreds of helpless and homeless animals throughout the county . Honorary Dog ,Timbit from Pugwash will be helping to preside over this event especially greeting adopted dogs and their families whom are encouraged to attend .Everyone is warmly welcomed to share in this wonderful time for the LA Animal Shelter and help the Staff,Volunteers ,Board celebrate . There will also be a raising of the Canada Flag and special words given by Shannon Benjamin ,a very awesome younger volunteer .
Four classes from various elementary schools across the county will take part in ”Responsible Animal Ownership ” presentations made by a Friend of the Shelter leading up to Animal Awareness Month . Also students involved will be invited to contribute stories and or drawings which will be displayed at the Animal Expo .
On Saturday ,June 22 ,from 11-3pm an Animal Awareness Expo will be held at the Amherst Lion’s Community Center . And everyone in Cumberland County is urged amd most wecome to come out and share in a great first-time event ! Everything dog and cat will be on display from treats to training . Vendors of all sorts will be on hand to showcase their products or services and children are invited to bring their pets for a show and tell . There will also be a silent auction , yard sale ,photo-taking ,and many more activities . Sure hope to see you all there !
