The 3/50 Project

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

What is the 3/50 Project? Quite simply, it’s a small but powerful idea.

3 - What 3 locally owned independent businesses would you miss if they were not around tomorrow? Stop in. Say Hello. Pick up something that brings a smile. Your purchases are what keeps those businesses around.

50 – If half the employed population in Canada spent $50 each month in locally owned independent businesses, it would generate more than $850 million in revenue.

Money spent at locally owned independent businesses stays in our community by a factor of 50% more than if spent at national chains. The figure is much higher when compared to USA based businesses.

The number of people needed to start the trend is 1 – you.

The Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to support the 3/50 project. You can find out more at their website:  http://www.the350project.net/
